| | | F1 heading for Cape Town? Wilhelm Lutjeharms writes... [E-mail the author] | | CAR's editorial team has been trotting around the globe this past week to report back on several new cars and model line-ups. To start, Peter Palm has been behind the wheel of Volkswagen's Amarok single-cab offering in the Eastern Cape, while Gareth Dean visited Munich, Germany, to drive Jaguar's new 2,2-litre turbodiesel engine that powers the updated XF. Can such a small-capacity engine work in this executive saloon? Another international launch took place in Zurich, Switzerland, where Audi chose to introduce its next entry-level SUV, the Q3. Ian McLaren attended the launch and also got to drive a possible RS version of the Q3, equipped with the 2,5-litre tubocharged petrol engine from the TT RS and upcoming RS3. Audi didn't confirm production of this performance- focused SUV, but we suspect it will eventually form part of the line-up. Back on local soil the entire automotive and motorsport industry, fans and especially Capetonians, are abuzz with the prospect of Formula One heading to Cape Town in the next couple of years. | | | | | | | The "Jonesability" Tests Chris Moerdyk I am starting to find that when it comes to getting really excited about a car these days, it's really not enough to say it does the zero to 100 km/h sprint in one second flat, can go around hairpin bends at a million km/h and can stop on a tickey. | | | Read more... | | | |
