Scirocco R arrives + new BMW 1 Series unveiled

[E-mail the author] Hot on the heels of the launch of the Golf R and Polo GTI (read a comparative test of the latter in the June 2011 issue), Volkswagen South Africa has released yet another hot hatch – the Scirocco R. This new addition to an ever-growing segment of the market differs from its Golf sibling in that all the power is sent to the front wheels. You can watch the Golf R and Scirocco R chase one another on track. Another anticipated car that has caused a bit of a stir this week is the new BMW 1 Series. The new One features polarising looks that seem to cause enthusiasts to either really love it or completely hate it. The car will reach South Africa towards the end of the year, when we will get to judge it in the metal. Out with the new and in with the old – CAR associate editor Brett Hamilton tagged along on the 42nd Continental Milligan Vintage Trial that took place in George.
