Ensure you always have a properly inflated spare tyre, emergency jack and tyre wrench in your car. Get into the habit of checking your spare tyre pressure with your other tyres. First things first Make sure that your car is off the road and in a safe place. Remove the spare tyre, emergency jack and tyre wrench. Check your owner's manual for any special instructions. Pay special attention to where the emergency jack points are and be sure to heed all warnings. What to do Loosen the lug nuts slightly while the wheel is still on the ground. Place the emergency jack on the jack point as indicated by your owner's manual and raise the car sufficiently to remove the tyre. Fully remove the loosened lug nuts. Now remove the flat tyre and place the spare on the wheel studs. Tighten the lug nuts onto the studs by first using your hands and then tightening them with the tyre wrench. Slowly lower the car and remove the jack. Then finish tightening the lug nuts. * Wheels should be tightened in a diagonal order.
